Families flying in for a Legoland break usually land at Heathrow, a short hop away. But if your cheapest or most convenient flight lands at Gatwick, the resort is still well within reach: about 40 miles round the M25. A taxi from Gatwick to Legoland Windsor costs from £99 for a saloon, fixed at booking, with child seats fitted free before the car arrives. If you are flying into Heathrow, see our guide to Heathrow to Legoland.
Round the M25 to Windsor
From Gatwick, the driver takes the M23 north and the M25 anticlockwise past the M3 and A30 interchanges to junction 13, then heads west through Old Windsor or Egham towards Windsor. Legoland is on the Winkfield Road, on the south-western edge of town next to Windsor Great Park. Alternatively, the driver may use junction 6 of the M4 and come in past Windsor itself.
It takes around 45 to 55 minutes in normal traffic. The M25 between junctions 7 and 13 is the busiest part, especially around junction 10 at Wisley. On busy summer days, the queue to get into the resort can add a few minutes at the end.
Hotels at the resort and in Windsor
Legoland has its own on-site accommodation: the Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel, the Legoland Castle Hotel and woodland lodges. Each has its own guest entrance and drop-off point, so tell us where you are staying. If you are in a hotel in Windsor town, or near the M4, the driver can take you there first and then on to the park on another day, both at fixed prices.
Seats, buggies and luggage
Travelling with young children means more equipment than an adult trip. Child seats are free: tell us the number of children and their ages when you book, and the right infant carriers, toddler seats or booster seats will be fitted. A folded pushchair fits in a saloon boot alongside two large cases. For more luggage, or more than two children, choose an estate or MPV. The price for each vehicle is shown when you book, so you can choose the one that fits.
Meeting your driver at Gatwick
Your driver tracks your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. After a flight with tired children, having someone there to take the trolley makes a real difference. At Gatwick, private hire cars park in the short-stay car park, a short walk from arrivals. If your flight is delayed, the pickup moves at no extra cost.
Public transport to Legoland
From Gatwick, public transport to the resort is a long trip. There is no direct train to Windsor, so you would need at least two changes, usually via Clapham Junction or Reading, then the Legoland shuttle bus from Windsor in season. Expect at least two hours. With a family and luggage, it is a lot of effort, and most parents find the car is worth the cost for the start and end of the holiday.
Gatwick's drop-off charges for your journey home
At the end of your stay, if you are getting a lift back to Gatwick, the forecourt drop-off zones have cost £10 for the first ten minutes since January 2026, rising by £1 a minute up to thirty minutes. The Long Stay car park allows up to two hours free with a shuttle bus. With a pre-booked taxi from Legoland, the fixed fare covers it.
Days out from Legoland
Windsor itself is a few minutes away, with the castle, the Long Walk and boat trips on the Thames. If you want a break from the park, we can run you into town and back at fixed prices. For collecting at park closing time, book in advance, especially in the summer holidays, when demand for cars is high.
Larger family groups
Grandparents, cousins and friends often travel together for Legoland holidays. An eight-seat MPV takes a big family with luggage in one vehicle, and for bigger groups we can send two vehicles together. The price is fixed for the whole vehicle, which usually works out cheaper per head than several cars.
What to tell us when you book
Give us your flight number and terminal, the hotel or lodge name, the number of adults and children with ages, and the number of large cases and pushchairs. With that information, we will send the right car with the right seats fitted. If you are booking the return trip at the same time, return bookings get five per cent off the second leg.
