Chigwell sits on the north-eastern edge of London, where the Central line meets the Essex countryside, with large houses, golf clubs and the edge of Epping Forest. Stansted is the local airport for many short-haul flights, but for long-haul trips, Heathrow is often the only option, and it is right across on the other side of London. A taxi from Chigwell IG7 to Heathrow Airport costs from £99 for a saloon, fixed at booking, collected from your door.
Around the M25
From Chigwell, the driver usually joins the M11 at junction 5 or heads to the M25 at junction 26 or 27, then goes anticlockwise round the north of London, past the A1, M1 and M40 junctions, to junction 15 and Heathrow. It is around 40 miles. Alternatively, at quieter times, the driver may cut through London on the North Circular and the A40, which is shorter but less predictable.
Plan on 50 minutes to an hour and five minutes in normal traffic. The M25 between junctions 16 and 25 is one of the busiest stretches of motorway in the country, especially in the weekday rush and on Friday afternoons. For early flights, the roads are clear and the trip is quicker.
Around IG7
IG7 covers Chigwell village and the High Road, the large houses around Chigwell Rise and Manor Road, Grange Hill to the south, and Chigwell Row and the countryside towards Lambourne End. Many properties are on private roads or behind gates. Give us the gate code or entry arrangements when you book.
Central line to the Elizabeth line
Chigwell and Grange Hill have Central line stations on the Hainault loop. By public transport, you can take the Central line into central London and change at Liverpool Street, Bond Street or Tottenham Court Road for the Elizabeth line to Heathrow. It takes around an hour and a half, or more if the loop trains are infrequent. For a solo traveller with light luggage, that is cheaper. For families with long-haul luggage or early departures, the car is much easier.
Heathrow terminals
Heathrow's four terminals are in three places: 2 and 3 in the central area, 5 with its own access at the western end, and 4 on the southern side. Tell us your terminal when you book so the driver takes the right approach from the M25.
Heathrow's drop-off charges
Since January 2026, every entry to a Heathrow terminal drop-off zone has cost £7, with a strict ten-minute limit enforced by cameras. Overstaying brings an £80 penalty notice, cut to £40 if paid within 14 days. If someone drives you, the free option is the Long Stay car park, which gives 30 minutes free with a shuttle bus. With us, the fixed fare covers it.
Timing your pickup
As a guide, leave Chigwell about three and a half hours before a long-haul flight, to allow for the M25. For early flights, a pickup around 3am to 4am means a smooth run. We will suggest an exact pickup time once we have your flight details.
Executive and family cars
For business trips or a more comfortable ride, our executive saloon, Mercedes S-Class and electric BMW i7 are available. For families with lots of luggage, an estate or MPV is a better choice than a saloon. Child seats are free.
Coming home to Chigwell
The same fixed fare applies from Heathrow to Chigwell. Your driver tracks your flight, waits in arrivals with a name board, and helps with your luggage. If you are delayed, there is no extra charge.
Epping Forest and the Essex edge
Chigwell sits right on the boundary between London and Essex, and some of IG7 feels more like countryside than suburb, especially around Chigwell Row and Lambourne End, where the lanes are narrow and unlit. If your home is down a long drive or a country lane, add a note when you book. The driver will get to the door rather than waiting at the end of the road.
Booking for visiting family
If you are booking for relatives arriving at Heathrow, put their name and mobile number on the booking. The driver will meet them in arrivals with a name board, help with their luggage and bring them to your door, and the confirmation will come to you.
